Short Breaks in the South Downs National Park

Short Breaks in the

South Downs National Park

In our sometimes hectic lives it is good to get away for a couple of days. As the leading South Downs walking company, Pear Tree Tours in partnership with Footprints of Sussex has some great options for a weekend away or a few days enjoying part of the South Downs Way…

A typical itinerary is as follows :

DAY 1 - Arrive at Arundel railway station late morning. Your baggage will be transferred directly from here to Amberley. You will then walk to Amberley following the published Footprints route guide for the beautiful 6 mile Arun Valley walk.

That evening stay at a high quality B&B in Amberley and enjoy a meal at one of the nearby village inns.

DAY 2 - Follow our very own route notes along 12 miles of the South Downs Way National Trail to Steyning, your baggage is transferred from Amberley to your B&B in Steyning.

That evening enjoy dinner at one of the many pubs and restaurants in this beautiful medieval Sussex town.

DAY 3 - Once again follow our route notes along 11 miles of the South Downs Way National Trail to Pyecombe, enjoying Devil’s Dyke en route. Upon completion a taxi will collect you with you baggage and take you to the nearest railway station for your journey home.

There are of course options that can be made to these days. You can arrive late on day 1 and go directly to Amberley or you could add a night in Pyecombe and then walk to Lewes….
