South Downs Way Walking Holidays
What, When, Why .... and Keeping it Simple
THIS NEEDS EDITING
My father & I are firm believers in doing something and doing it well. We have been asked for many years to offer holidays in many other trails, but we have stuck true to our beliefs and focused on delivering excellent walking holidays
along the South Downs Way and within the South Downs National Park, made easier when you live within it... We are also fond of the keeping it simple, as such and rather than a fancy website offering you 100's of variations on a theme, all we ask is that you tell us when you want to walk, how many of you? and for how long? we will do the rest! equally we do not take online bookings, many of the better accommodations do not have live booking facilities, we like to check the rooms exist
before we send you a formal and tailored holiday offer...
We are based in Steyning, the midway point on the South Downs Way. We personally visit each and every Bed & Breakfast that we include as part of your holiday and are also very familiar with many of the pubs and restaurants we recommend. When you make an enquiry with us, we check that the rooms – it does get busy during high season – are actually available unlike some others and that when you place your booking with us you do get what was offered.
We know this trail intimately; We have been organising walking holidays on the South Downs Way for over 30 years, and for the past 20 years we have been leading the Annual South Downs Way Walk each June between Winchester and Eastbourne. For all of our holidays, we include Cicerone Route Guides & Maps, Wooden Bag Tags and our very own Tailored Route Notes, here is an EXAMPLE
We also support the South Downs Way National Trail each year, you can find out more about them by clicking on the link
in the footer.
Three good reasons to book a walking holiday with Footprints of Sussex
Local Knowledge
There is rarely a week goes by when one of us is not out walking somewhere on the South Downs Way. Whether it's meeting people, checking something or just enjoying our own local trail. There is no substitute for local knowledge.
High Standards
We believe that at the end of a great day walking the hills you deserve a little comfort. A warm welcome from a friendly host, an ensuite bedroom and a nearby pub or restaurant with an interesting menu.
Peace of Mind
When the unexpected happens it's reassuring to know that your holiday provider is not far away. And we are a family business where you will have a named contact just a local call away.

Keeping it simple
If you feel overwhelmed by all the options available let's keep it simple and just tell us :

.......... that's all we need, we'll do the rest.
Want to tailor your holiday?
- How about a rest day in Amberley, Steyning or Lewes
- Or a luxury night at Amberley Castle or The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne
- Maybe take a day to visit one of our award winning vineyards
- Or have friends and family join you for a night or two just ask and we'll take care of it

“You came and looked and loved the view long known and loved by me :
green Sussex fading into blue with one grey glimpse of sea.”
